Complete Darkness

Dreaming of complete darkness is one of the most archetypal and charged symbols. It often evokes feelings of fear, insecurity, the unknown, or a lack of control. It can reflect a period of confusion in life, depression, repressed emotions, or a feeling of being lost. In a Jungian sense, darkness is a direct projection of the collective unconscious – the place where all hidden aspects of the Self are stored, including the Shadow. It can be a call for introspection, to explore these hidden aspects. Positively, complete darkness can also be a phase before the birth of something new, like a womb before life. Spiritually, it is a place for deep meditation, for connecting with primal energies, and for surrendering control. Trust that even in the deepest darkness, there is potential for light.
